Katy Perry is back with a roar. She has finally released her first new music since Teenage Dream, and to promote her new album Prism, a gold Prism truck has been driving across America.
The truck finally ended up in New York City, and Katy made a roaring entrance popping out of it, as she made her way to Elvis Duran and the Morning Show for an exclusive interview, bringing along her blue "Roar" tiger jacket she wore for the cover art of her new single.
But she let fans know before hand so they could get it on the action too. She tweeted:
NEW YORKERS. MEET ME at 8:30AM AT 32 AVENUE OF THE AMERICAS. I HAVE SOMETHING TO SHOW YOU. #ROAR 🐯☔🐯☔🐯☔— Katy Perry (@katyperry) August 12, 2013
And - after getting stuck in an elevator - she made her way up to the Elvis Duran and the Morning Show studios to talk about Prism (which is out October 22nd!), her single "Roar," the pressures of being in the public eye, and more.
On her new album she says, "It's the 28-year-old version of me. Last record, which was very fun, and kind of like a cartoon character. This record is a lot more stripped down." She goes on to say, "It's the essential oils of me represented."
On why she called her new album Prism, she says, "'Prism' is what colors are. That's why I called it 'Prism.' For a minute I thought, OK, I was going to do a dark record, but then I let the light in, and that's what a Prism does."
