JMU Basketball Releases Sunbelt Schedule for 2022-23

James Madison University released its Men's and Women's basketball schedules as official members of the Sunbelt Conference for 2022-2023 this week

For the men:

JMU will renew its Commonwealth rivalry with new league foe Old Dominion, traveling to Norfolk on Feb. 2 before hosting the Monarchs on Feb. 16. ODU is already the Dukes' third-most played opponent in program history, with the two schools' matchup last season in Harrisonburg representing the 86th meeting in the rivalry.

The Dukes will also play pairs of games against nearby opponents in Marshall – in Huntington on Dec. 31 and Harrisonburg on Feb. 22 – and Appalachian State – at home on Jan. 7 and in Boone on Feb. 4.

Georgia State will bookend the Dukes' conference slate, with JMU heading to Atlanta on Dec. 29 and hosting the Panthers on Feb. 24, Georgia Southern (H: Jan. 14 | A: Feb. 9) and Coastal Carolina (H: Jan. 26 | A: Feb. 11) will each face JMU home and away as well.

The Dukes will face six SBC opponents just once, traveling to South Alabama (Jan. 12), Troy (Jan. 19) and Southern Miss (Jan. 21), while playing host to Texas State (Jan. 5), ULM (Jan. 28) and Louisiana (Feb. 18).

The Sun Belt Men's & Women's Basketball Championships will take place from Tuesday, Feb. 28, to Monday, March 6, at the Pensacola Bay Center in Pensacola, Fla. All 14 teams will qualify for the event.

All game times, as well as the non-conference schedule will be announced at a later date. Follow along with all schedule additions and changes on social media or at JMUSports.com.

For the women:

The Dukes will welcome Coastal Carolina to the Atlantic Union Bank Center on Dec. 29 to open conference play before renewing an in-state rivalry when Old Dominion visits Harrisonburg on Dec. 31.

January opens up with back-to-back road games at Marshall (Jan. 5) and Southern Miss (Jan. 7). The Dukes return home to host Appalachian State on Jan. 12 and Georgia State on Jan. 14. Georgia Southern then makes their way to Harrisonburg on Jan. 19 before the Dukes welcome Troy on Jan. 21. The month closes out with a pair of road games as the Dukes play Coastal Carolina (Jan. 26) and Georgia State (Jan. 28), both for the second time.

JMU's four-game road swing continues on Feb. 2 at South Alabama before heading to Georgia Southern for their second matchup against the Eagles on Feb. 4. The Dukes will then play host to Louisiana on Feb. 9 and Arkansas State on Feb. 11. JMU gets back on the road for a trio of away games at Texas State (Feb. 16), ODU (Feb. 18) and App State (Feb. 22) before ending league play at home on Feb. 24 against Marshall.

The Dukes face five conference foes just once - Southern Miss, South Alabama, Texas State, Troy, Louisiana and Arkansas State. These five games all happen to be the first-ever meetings between JMU and the slated opponent.

The Sun Belt Men's & Women's Basketball Championships will take place from Tuesday, Feb. 28, to Monday, March 6, at the Pensacola Bay Center in Pensacola, Fla. All 14 teams will qualify for the tournament.
