The Page County ECC received a call reporting a shooting near Buzzard View Place in Shenandoah. The caller reported two people shot. Page County Sheriff's officers, The Shenandoah Police Department, Virginia State Police, Elkton Police along with Luray PD and Rockingham County Sheriff's officers responded.
Upon arrival, officers located Jay Scott Campbell, 53 deceased. Campbell had suffered multiple gunshot wounds. A second victim was located near Wildwood Lane with multiple gunshot wounds and was airlifted to a trauma center. A suspect, 47 year old Scott Simandl was apprehended at scene without incident.
Simandl has been charged with first degree murder, aggravated malicious wounding and use of a firearm during a felony. Simandl is being held without bond.
