Man attempts arson, fires arrows at police while barricaded in Albemarle

WRIC TV is reporting that police and first responders were called to the 1700 block of Minor Drive in Albemarle County Sunday night for a reported brush fire and alleged arson. There, police, fire and rescue found a suspect had set a gas can ablaze and thrown it into an occupied home. The residents threw the can back outside and used a fire extinguisher to put out the remaining flames

The suspect then ran a short distance to a shed on his property in the 1800 block of Minor Drive. He was ID'd as 32 year old Steven Alexander Hall.

While in the shed, Hall fired bows from a compound bow at officers before being taken into custody

Hall has been charged with:

  • One (1) count Va. Code 18.2-77 — Burning or destroying an occupied dwelling
  • One (1) count Va. Code 18.2-279 — Shooting a missile into an occupied dwelling
  • One (1) count Va. Code 18.2-460 — Obstruction
  • Nine (9) counts Va. Code 18.2-51.1 — Attempted malicious wounding of law enforcement

There were no injuries to any officers, the occupants of buildings, or bystanders.
