SCSO Releases Body Cam Video From Officer Involved Shooting

An update on an earlier story from Shenandoah County that left a Shenandoah County man dead. Shenandoah County Sheriff's office released body cam footage from the night of the incident, Monday July 25th.

SCSO received a report of a man outside his neighbor's house shining lights inside the home and knocking on the door. The original caller said they had heard several gun shots. SCSO responded and found Sean Christopher McCormick, 64, at his home along the 1000 block of Copp Road, and more gun shots were heard.

Several attempts were made to negotiate a resolution. McCormick reentered his own home, exited showing a gund. Law enforcement fired from their aagency-issued weapons. McCormick was hit and transported to Winchester Medical center where he later died.

On August 22, Sheriff Carter released a body cam footage video to Youtube along with a statement saying that his office requested the Virginia State Police review the actions of the officers. Carter went onto say that the Shenandoah County Commonwealth's attorney reviewed the findings of the State Police who found no criminal actions on the part of law enforcement.
