Hburg Fire Department Credits Working Smoke Alarms With Saving City Family

Harrisonburg Fire Department officials confirmed that working smoke alarms helped save lives of a Harrisonburg family after a fire started in their home Saturday.

City firefighters responded to the 1400 block of Country Club Court. Smoke was showing from the second and third floor windows and crews quickly extinguished the fire.

An unattended smoking device was the cause and functioning smoke alarms helped the family of four escape to safety. Only minor injuries were reported.
