Luray FD - House Fire Wedsnesday

The Luray Fire Department was called to a house fire in the town limits on Wednesday. Local fire fighters were on scene for 12+ hours to extinguish a tough structure fire.

From their Facebook Post:

On August 31st at approximately 8:49pm, Company 1, Rescue 3, and Medic 203 were dispatched for a structure fire in the Town of Luray.

Engine 9, Engine 12, Tower 1, and Chief 1 responded to the scene.

On scene firefighters found heavy fire conditions in the basement and first floor with areas of the first floor collapsed. Due to the large amount of debris in the structure, interior attack was not possible. The hydrant system in the area could not keep up with water demands, so Tanker 1, Tanker 8, and Tanker 24 were requested to the scene for water shuttle operations.

Company 24 was dispatched to fill quarters and eventually came to the scene to assist exhausted crews during salvage and overhaul. Mauck Excavating was also called to the scene to assist in removing the debris from the structure for extinguishment.

Huge thanks to Luray 7/11 (East End) & Luray McDonald's for donating coffee and food to firefighters on scene.

Crews have been on scene for 12+ hours ensuring all fire is extinguished. There have been no reported injuries.
